We love Flex Tube! The way patterns tied with Flex Tube allows flies to come to life, especially on brighter days. Though we have always used cones on many of our Flex Tube flies, sometimes with bulkier patterns, we find that using the liner tube inserted into the Flex Tube can give the fly a bit of a gap between the cone and the head of the fly. We designed our new Flex Tube Cones to address the problem of getting a nice snug fit onto the front of your fly. A fit that gives a smooth transition from the cone right to the wing. With these new cones, they have a large hole to fit directly onto the Flex Tube or standard plastic tube. Their unique shape also leaves a wide cavity to really fit well over the tying thread too!
The technique of putting a cone on a Flex Tube by inserting liner tube (bottom left) into the front of the fly works well for slim patterns. With bulkier patterns, that have a large amount of tying thread at the "head", Flex Tube Cones are the way to go!
There are a lot of possibilities with these cones!
